“New Owner, Renovated and Wonderful!”

I never stayed here when it was called Bear Haven, so I cannot comment on the quality before it was sold to its new owners who have renamed it Dancing Bear Guesthouse.

I think they have done extensive renovations - the house is very clean and well decorated, the beds are very comfortable. The owner, Philip, makes an excellent breakfast and excellent conversation, too! We felt very welcome during our stay, and will definitely be returning. Shelburne Falls is a beautiful town, with easy access to local attractions such as New England's Cheesemaking workshop, which I attended.

"A wonderful place to stay!"

This cute Victorian style home has a quintessential New England coziness decorated in that period.
Phil and Edith went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and were wonderful hosts! The both have an interesting diverse background and are well traveled. They are warm and gracious people, which made them a joy to talk to on a variety of subjects.
The extended continental breakfast was so delicious with warm, out-of the-oven fresh baked bread, pastries, polenta and fresh fruit. They asked ahead of time if we had any diet restrictions which we didn’t. I did see eggs, cereal and oatmeal for those who prefer a less decadent breakfast.
The Inn is less than a 5 minute walk to the Bridge of Flower and Glacial Potholes as well as a number of great galleries, shops and restaurants.
I look forward to staying there again in the fall.

“A slice of peace and quiet....”

Anyone still hoping to find a B&B filled with teddy bears will be disappointed as the new owners have moved on from this kitsch idea, but everyone else should be delighted by this haven of tranquility in this beautiful town on the Mohawk Trail.

The house is as described, a comfortable B&B in a historic homestead. Philip, our host, welcomed us to the house and then left us to enjoy the quiet charms of Shelburne Falls. After a trip which had included New York, Boston and Provincetown we were hoping for a little rural peace and quiet and this is what we got!! You could have cut the stillness with a knife and spread it on the beautiful home made bread we were served as part of a wonderful breakfast the next day.

I wished we could have stayed longer!!

“Highly recommended....”

 Oct 9, 2008

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a few days in November of 2006 after I got out of a weeklong meditation retreat. Needless to say, I needed to unwind in peace and the Dancing Bear Guest House could not have been a better place to choose. Philip was very accommodating, friendly and hospitable. The room (we stayed in the Rose Room) was absolutely beautiful and comfortable. The photographs on their website are very accurate. No one else was staying in the house at that time so we had it all to ourselves and it was just great! Breakfast was AMAZING and every morning my boyfriend & I wished we could stay longer. It's literally just a few minutes walking distance from "downtown" so everyday we would spend in town and a quick walk and we were "home". I would highly recommend this guest house and if I ever have a reason to go back to Shelburne Falls, I will definitely be returning here!
